Bethesda Softworks has announced that The Elder Scrolls Online will be dropping its subscription starting March 17, and will be renamed to "The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited".
The MMO still won't be free-to-play though, you will still have to purchase the game, but once you do, you will have unlimited time to explore the content without having to pay a monthly fee.
You will also get full access to all previously-released updates and added content. Those who already own The Elder Scrolls Online will simply have their accounts updated to the new version. There will also be "ESO Plus" memberships available in 30, 90 and 180-day durations which grant access to all future DLC, which will consist of game packs with "optional adventure content".
