Unlike the previous Elder Scrolls games, you can get married in Skyrim. In order to get married you need the Amulet of Mara. The amulet can be purchased from Marmal who can be found in Riften at an inn called "Bee and Brab". Just talk to Mara about marriage and then you will be able to purchase the amulet for only 200 gold.

The amulet is a symbol that marks you as a person who is available for marriage and after equipping it, talk to someone who you are interested in, and if the person is interested in you as well you will unlock extra dialogue lines which lead to a proposal. When the person agrees to get married you must visit the Temple of Mara and attend a marriage ceremony.

Speak to Maramal at the Temple of Mara about arranging your wedding. The time of the ceremony is approximately 24 hours from the hour you first initiated the wedding preparations. It is recommended that you stay at the Temple of Mara to avoid standing up your to-be spouse.
