There is a rumor going around that the Xbox 720 release date will be announced at the 2012 International CES, which will be held January 10-13. According to reporter Paul Thurrot, the next Xbox system code named "The Loop" will be out next year around this time.

"What I’m hearing is [the next Xbox is] going to come out for holidays next year, meaning that they would almost have to announce this at CES, wouldn’t they? That’s my rumor… that we’ll expect to hear something about that. They’re going the Apple route where they want this thing to integrate very tightly with Windows 8 and Windows Phone, which is a problem with the current Xbox."

We will have to wait and see if this rumor is based on fact this January.
